Interested in how the estate planning process at D.Rowe Law works? We've outlined it all!
When you call our office, we’ll will ask some preliminary questions to gain a basic understanding of your situation and to set up an appointment for a consultation. We generally offer consultations via Zoom, Teams, or Google Meeting, but can meet in person if preferred.
Before your initial visit, we will send you our questionnaire, which will help you provide us with most of the essential information. This information will make our meeting more productive and allow us to accurately assess your situation and address your estate planning concerns. If you complete this “homework” ahead of time, we will waive our fee for the initial visit.
During this consultation, we will spend time assessing your needs, learning about your family (including your pets), and your assets. We'll educate you about various estate planning options to find the plan that is best suited to you and your unique family needs. We take time to explain the pros and cons of creating or not creating a trust and try not to bore you with legal jargon.
Once you’ve selected your ideal plan, we will spend time in this initial visit actually designing and building your estate plan. We use a fixed fee system, so you will know the total cost for your estate plan upfront at this meeting. This initial meeting generally takes two hours to complete.
Toward the end of this meeting, we will schedule a time and date for your signing ceremony and then get to work drafting your plan documents.
We will have a signing ceremony at which we review, explain, and sign your documents. We will also discuss the trust funding process and give you the choice of self-funding or letting us handle the work for you. You will receive a final hard copy of all your documents for safekeeping, as well as a digital copy for your records. Depending on the package you select, you may also receive a family wealth inventory and fiduciary letters to send to your agents, trustees, and guardians.
At D.Rowe Law, our client-centric process ensures that you receive personalized attention, expert guidance, and a clear understanding of your estate planning journey every step of the way.
